Why is my XP rig performance slow?

September 20, 2010 at 00:34:47
Specs: Windows XP Black Edition Rebirth ver.7.0, 1.7ghz/512 RAM
I have a processor of 1.7GHz and a memory of 512mb RAM...

my MOBO is having no AGP or PCI-E slot for Video Graphics but i does have only 1 PCI slot

and my MOBO built-in sound speaker, line in and microphone is not working but i have solved it
by inserting a SOUND CARD in the only PCI slot. that solved it

but my problem is why is it still slow on processing.

my OS is XP-Black edition rebirth version 7.
and my CPU has memory shared??? what does it do???

my driver for Video is only VGA ... intel graphic accelerator

i have similar system (p4 1.7ghz, 1gb ram, etc) but mine is fast (for normal works).
"Win xp black edition rebirth version 7" first i will get rid of it and install win xp sp3, then i will let important soft start with windows (anti-virus, bluetooth softw), install ccleaner and get rid of temp files. Use light soft (foobar, avg free edition, google chrome, photoshop 7/8, foxit reader etc.).

"my OS is XP-Black edition rebirth version 7"

Admitting that you're running a pirated copy of Windows can get your post deleted.

"and my CPU has memory shared??? what does it do???"

The CPU is the processor....yours runs at 1.7GHz. Don't refer to your computer as a CPU. The shared memory is for the onboard graphics.

"my MOBO built-in sound speaker, line in and microphone is not working"

Probably becuase you didn't install the audio drivers. Remove the soundcard & see if you can get the onboard audio working, then install a PCI video card.
