Why is my computer crashing?

January 2, 2011 at 04:18:57
Specs: Ubuntu 10.04
Every time I try to stream video my system crashes and I can't turn the computer back on for 10 minutes. Also, the DVD drive crashes the system and opens at random times. I have replaced the motherboard but still have the same issue.

"I can't turn the computer back on for 10 minutes"

There's a big clue right there. Something is overheating ( CPU or Graphics card) and your system won't restart until it cools down.

Have you cleaned out the heatsink & fan on the CPU? Download and install Speedfan so you can see what temperature your system is running.

As for the DVD misbehaving that may be a problem with that drive or it might be motherboard or possibly even a virus
