why is my acer E525 pc overheating

Specs: Windows 7
My acer E525 overheats a lot on left hand side, about half the key pad. Could this have anything to do with the battery.

I doubt the issue is the battery. Overheating is caused primary by poor cooling of the processor. The processor may be located under that side of the keyboard.

I suggest you obtain a can of compressed air from the office supply and blow out the ventilation slots on the bottom of your laptop. Also, only place your laptop on a hard flat surface, which will allow air circulation.

Install HWMonitor to determine the temperatures in real time. Get HWMonitor from the link below.

If the above doesn't fix the issue it might be that the CPU heatsink is clogged, or the fans.
