As far as I know, there is already a GPT partition table on the WD MyPassport.
One of the partitions on the external hard drive is reserved for WD Tools of a backup tool or for disk encryption.

How ever, it's not that easy to delete this partition.

I managed that by using GParted LiveCD.

Be careful with that.
Make sure, you first select the correct hard drive, before deleting all partitions and creating a new partition table on it.

If you are using Windows 7 as listed above then it should be supported in full.
Go to Disk Manager and look at the drive there, Delete all partitions and recreate a single partition in NTFS from there, choose GPT not MBR to support the full drive.
Note, if your drive came with any back up or other programs they will be deleted, they are probably not necessary but if you like, they are probably available for download on WD site.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
