Bad ram on a good motherboard normally will give a beeping error. Depending on the short it's possible the cpu was damaged. Did this new motherboard ever work for you? If not are you sure you got everything reassembled correctly?

If you're unsure about the condition of added peripherals just disconnect them. Temporarily disconnect all the drives and remove any add-on cards that aren't immediately needed. Do all that with the power cord removed. Remove any USB devices. Then plug the cord back and and start it up and see if the posting or logo screen shows up.

No display at all--not even the posting or logo screen? Then everything is NOT working. You hear the fans and drives spin up and probably see LEDs flashing so you think you have some video problem. Those symptoms aren't uncommon with a power supply or motherboard failure. But, just in case, have you tried the monitor on another computer or another monitor with that one?

Do you hear any beeps? Did anything happen to it or did you make any changes between the last time it worked OK and the first time it didn't?

No I get no display at all. The monitor is on but shows no signal. My first motherboard shorted out so could that have made me RAM go bad or maybe my hard drives?
