Why does Computer read DVD as blank

March 14, 2011 at 15:39:09
Specs: Windows 7
I use Win 7 and have a DVD+_RW driuve.

For the past two years I had been sending files to DVDs without any problem.

Then all of a sudden when I insert a DVD and have formatted it and then copy files to it, it reads blank. But when I click its properties, it shows files there. The path is correct.

I use Win 7 itself to copy the files. I don't use burning software. When I first insert a blank disc, I am asked if I want to use it as a flash drive. I click "yes."

Help will be much appreciated.

Is there a icon in the tray showing there are files waiting to be burned?

Yes, there is. When I click it oen, it shows files waiting to be burned. But there is nothing there that tells me how to burn them. I don't want to burn them anyway as I use the disc as a flash drive.

You still need to write the files to the disk. How do you think they can be read otherwise.

Look at the top of the screen to find the BURN listing.
