Could be the disk is encrypted & can't be copied. What kind of disk are you trying to copy?

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

You may not have made the copy correctly. How did you do it? If this is commercial software you should be able to make a copy for your archives.

If you are trying to boot to the CDR then watch the screen for a message stating to hit any key to boot from the CD.

If you are not getting the CD to autorun, that is common. Right click on the drive icon in My Computer and choose open. Then look for a file like setup.exe or similar.

Thanks for your kind responses...

Im trying to use a sony CD-ROM..

Current scenario here is, either a original CD or a copied one is not getting detected here..When the same situation arose earlier, i just formatted the C drive where my OS resides and used a new Windows XP OS..Thereafter it worked well..

Now i face the same problem which i had earlier..CD not getting detected..Insetead of getting my OS replaced, I Wanna know the cause for it..

First of all check in Device manager to see if the CD drive is identified correctly there.
