Why do my PC games have no sound?

July 19, 2014 at 12:58:18
Specs: Windows 7
Youtube audio and netflix work fine. It's just my games audio. This happened immediately after plugging in a headset for the mic on Teamspeak.
I've read forums, ran games under admin, restarted comp, shut off comp, check dxdiag and it said "Problem getting extra sound info." I even restored my comp to a checkpoint.
These are all the clues I have that might help you help me.

What is the make and model of your computer and whatever headset you are using?

So Netflix and Youtube audio work fine through your headset?

Is the headset hooked up to a sound card?

Do game's sound work when the headset isn't plugged in?

Does the headset work with games when you use onboard sound?

I am really just trying to figure out if the problem is the headset or sound card. You talked about your headset in the post, but put it under the sound card section.

Also, are you saying you mistakenly plugged the headphones in the microphone jack and that's when the problem started?

I know its weird. Regular Audio works through the monitor, headset, and if i plug my comp to a TV. Its only the video game audio that doesn't work. I mention the headset since I know that caused lack of audio for games. I'm guessing it must have tweaked the settings a bit or something. It hasn't happened before, this is the first time it has happened.

You might want to go into 'hardware and sound' in control panel and look around there:

Maybe something is muted or disabled.

I'm still wondering why this is posted under the sound card section.

How many games have you tried with this? Could you please list them?

So game audio doesn't work for TV, monitor, or headset?

Again, the make and model of your computer and headset would be nice.
