Solved Why do I have no sound on either end of my Skype?

December 21, 2017 at 21:12:14
Specs: Windows Vista
My skype is updated but when I skype I can't hear them and they can't hear me. I've tried going to tools then options for the Audio test and it shows my microphone working. I am using Windows Vista Premium. What do I do?

In Skype go to Tools > Options > Audio Settings and see what is selected in the "Speakers" box.
There might be alternatives in the drop down.

EDIT:
Also is your sound set to "Automatically adjust speaker settings". If so is it any different with that setting unchecked and the volume turned up to maximum.

I think if we can get the audio output going the record side will probably be OK.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Try a call to "SKYPE TEST CALL".
It will run a recorded message to speak after the tone.
Make some noise for 5-10 seconds.
Then it will playback what you have recorded.

If that works, other calls should work too.

You said it shows your microphone as working. Do the little green blobs extend to the right when you speak?

Yes the green line moves when I talk into the mic. But when I do the Echo Sound Test, it does not record my voice doing the test. Only the narrator voice is heard. Any other thoughts? Thank you for trying to help me, I am totally lost.

In the sound volume mixer, is the skype volume muted or is the slider set very low?
