Specs: Windows XP, 1.80GHz Intel Pentium E2160 Dual Core
I recently tried to add an old western digital caviar 2850 IDE hard drive to my basically all SATA computer !!! Here's the problem ??? I can see the drive in my boot priority and my device manager, but can not get it to come up in my disk management nor can I access it !!! Now; it does not register or "COME UP " when I go into my computer either !!! I went online and downloaded all the specific drivers that I could locate for the drive to no resolve !!! I just can't get it to work !!! I have a Rosewill Challenger Black Atx Mid Tower Gaming Computer case with a C2SBA+ motherboard and a G33 Chipset, an E2160 Pentium Dual Core 1.80 GHz processor, a Rosewill Bronze Series RBR 1000-M power supply , with 2 LG GH24NS50 DVD/CD-RAM drives, a floppy drive, and a Samsung HD161HJ 160 GB Hard Drive operating off of windows XP Home Edition !!! Can Anybody Help Me ??? Any possible Solutions would be appreciated !!!

You may need to reformat the drive, also depending how old you may need to flip the drive to be slave.

Is the drive identified in Device Manager by model number? If it is the only IDE hard drive in the system see what the advanced properties of the IDE/ATA ATAPI controller says about the drive.

Older drives like that may need to be jumpered as Master and Western Digital drives have a third selection for Master alone, which you should be using. Also, connect to the end of the IDE ribbon cable.

Probably a dumb question but when in Disk Management did you expand the box to full screen. The drive may be showing after the optical drives and would not show in the default screens.

Are you trying to recover files from that drive?
