Specs: Windows 98
Hello. I Have an I.B.M. Thinkpad that runs Windows 98. I Press the Power Button, And The
Green Power LCD Light Turns On. But The Screen Remains Blank. I am not an ametur at using the compute, but getting inside the computer casing is another story. I respetfully ask that if you are going to help me, you do it in step-by-step instructuions that are clearly understood. Thank you for your help.

Sounds like a problem with either the video card or the LCD screen. Does this particular notebook have the ability to be hooked up to an external monitor via VGA? If it does, try that...
a) External monitor has a picture
resoution: LCD screen is bad on laptop
b) External monitor has no picture
resolution: Laptop video card is bad.
If the GPU isn't built in on the laptop and you can open the case alright, then replacing a bad video card should not be too hard. you can look it up online, it's easy information to locate. If the LCD screen is bad, that's not quite so easily replaceable... it is most likely brand-specific, so you might need another "for parts" Thinkpad to do the transplant, or bring it to a computer technician.

^ my 2 cents... hope this helps.

Thank You, But I have already Tried to Hook up an External Monitor to the computer.Unfourtunately, This Did Not Work. This was a monitor I can say in all confidence was working properly. Now, The computer does not beep when i boot it up, but it makes whirring noises. If you would send me clear and simple instructions on how to replace the video card and how much they cost, My E-Mail is Austin70000@Gmail.com. Thank you.
