Solved when i connect dvd to tv i cant get color

Specs: Windows Vista
when television is connected to DVD it goes black and white - why am i not getting color picture using the aspect button on remote i have put it on "colorstream" this is just a standard DVD on HDMI. the cord is red,white and yellow.. Putting in the appropriate color coordinated connections but still no color.

That is not HDMI. This is an HDMI

Red, White and Yellow is are RCA connectors. The oldest way of connecting A/V to a TV. Red and white are left and right Audio. Yellow is composite video. If you are only getting B/W then there is something wrong with the video output from the DVD or try setting your TV for composite input..

So what is on the other end of this colour coordinated cable.

Does you TV have more than one signal input? If so try the others.
