Whats needed to install 2nd internal SATA DVD

Specs: Windows 7, AMD Athlon X4
Before I open up my HP Pavilion 6510f to install a 2nd DVD/CD drive I want to know if I need to buy a separate SATA power cable. I already bought the SATA data cable and was told at the store that I didn't need the power cable. One guy said the data cable will provide the power. Another said I'll find the power cable bundled to the motherboard inside the PC cabinet. I have my doubts. I just want to have everything I need before proceeding.

Make sure you have a second sata port open on your motherboard. Unless you're not using anything sata now then you would only need one port. The power comes from a sata connector on your power supply. Sometimes they're labled. If you have the port and the power connection, go ahead and install the drive. After installation, you can check your bios to see if it's recognized. It will also show up in My Computer.

The PC is 3 months old. I have 6 SATA data ports on the motherboard. 4 are free. The primary DVD/CD drive is SATA . So is the HD. Not sure how many SATA power ports there are on the power supply box. I'm assuming 6 to match the # of data ports.
Based on your response I'm assuming the SATA data cable does NOT carry power & I need the power cable as well. Why would I be told by a salesperson at a computer store that I only needed the data cable? Very annoying! Unless there is a free (unconnected) power cable tied off inside the box as another salesperson told me? Guess I have to open it up to find out. But for the sake of couple of bucks, I'll buy a power cable beforehand.
