Specs: Windows XP
Hi
I want to upgrade my RAM. I made a system check on crucial system scanner and got this information:
Currently Installed Memory: 2GB
Total Memory Slots: 2
Available Memory Slots: N.A.
1024 MB DDR PC2-6400 1024 MB DDR PC2-6400

System Manufacturer: PT890E
System Model: AWRDACPI
Motherboard Manufacturer: N.A.
Motherboard Model: PT890CE-8237

Is it possible from these information to say what RAM i should buy?

✔ Best Answer
You need 2048 DDR PC2-6400 1024 MB DDR PC2-6400 which are 2GB sticks

you already have 1GB x 2. so you could buy 2 new 2gb sticks, & sell the ones in there, but unless you have 64bit version of xp, there is no point in upgrading to 4GB.
32bit will only see a max of 3GB, so you could replace 1 stick.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

thanks for the quick reply.
My windows is 32 bit. Will changing from 2 to 3 GB ram, give a big performance effect or should I rather use other methods to speed up my computer untill I buy a new one?

I wouldn't think you will see much of a performance increase with 3gb

get a small ssd & put the original hard disk in an external enclosure

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.
