Specs: Windows 7, 3,00
Hello techs guys here, I want to ask a question about my crap Intel Pentium D LGA775 motherboard that has four ram slots now ok. I know it can handle four of the one gb ram for each slot to max out the ram but can I use only 2 of the 2gb ram sticks also on my board in two ram slots only to max it out or only the ram that are only 1 gb sticks then ? I am running the windows 7 pro 64 bit and its very slow LOL right on this motherboard

Do you have the motherboard manual? It appears the max memory your board supports is 4GB and since there are 4 DIMM slots, 1GB max per slot. The optimal RAM speed depends on the default FSB speed of the CPU. The Pentium 4 & Pentium D use inefficient architecture so to make up for that deficiency, the CPU:DRAM frequency ratio should be 3:4 or 4:5. That would mean DDR2-533 with an 800Mhz FSB CPU or DDR2-667 with a 1066Mhz FSB CPU.

For Windows 64bit to run well you should have 4GB RAM (or more).
You can go to Crucial.com and have their app scan your machine and come back with a report on what your upgrade options are and what the best memory is for your machine. You do not have to purchase from them but it is a good tool.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
