Boot into safe mode and change the default resolution in the video driver. At the moment it is trying to put the monitor into a resolution that it does not support.

I assume you mean 1280x1024? Is this an LCD or CRT monitor?

To change the resolution, right click on the desktop, click Properties, click the Settings tab, then make the adjustment using the slider. Before closing that window, click on the Advanced button, click the Monitor tab, then you can change the screen refresh rate to something supported by the monitor. LCDs are normally set at 60 Hertz. If you have a CRT, try 75 Hertz.
