You need to install the nearest printer driver to the Dell. Check your manual for the setup/drivers for PCL(HP) or Postscript.

Hi Grampy,

presume you are talking about the old dos Lotus.

If so, bear in mind it is very old and when written few Laser Printers were around. It may already have drivers for some of them, such as the HP Postscript which was a standard at the time.

Thus if a new printer emulates one of the old printers Lotus has drivers for, you should have no trouble.

Another thought is that there are probably some Lotus speciality forums on the web, and they may well have drivers for more uptodate printers.

Often dos programs, included the facilty to send control strings to non-supported printers. This is fine for dot-matrix printers, but I would think somewhat of a nightmare for laser or inkjet ones.

Please advise back on progress.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Thanks for the response Mike. My lotus is not that old (although I am) I am actually using my XP version (9.7) on my new Windows 7 computer However, I have some lotus macros or scripts that are written in classic lotus (i.e., specifically using "/ppagq<ret>" to print the data). Nothing prints (i.e., a blank page) because I don't have the proper "setup string" ("/ppos...") for the new Dell 1130n printer.

I believe old setup strings are matched to the printer. New printer command may be embbeded as hidden function commands i.e. format, insert, new page.
