Specs: Windows 10
I have a Sanyo Combo Video/DVD Recorder and the "PR01" Message is preventing me from recording programmes.
Is this an error message or does it mean something else?

That confirms that the display is informational, indicating which channel or source connection is in use. You need to press the channel buttons until the input that the Tivo is connected to (AI1, AI2, or AIF, depending upon your setup) before you can record from it. That is as long as the program on the Tivo is not copy-protected.

Have you tried recording from the TV, either directly or via a timed recording, to check the record facility? If you can record from the TV, but not from the Tivo, then it's most likely a question of copy-protection.

mm... this is an external dvd recorder box...?

Presumably there is an earlier attempted (and possibly failed) recording in the way of the currrent effort?

Have you checked to see if there are"any" previous recording - which may have even been timed/scheduled recordings) that have failed or not yet compeleted? If there are any - perhaps delete those scheduled settings?

Thanks for your responses.

I am manually copying pre-recorded programs, (music, films and sport) from a Virgin TIVO box onto DVDs. The box is being replaced at the end of the month and I don't want to lose these important recordings.
I haven't used any pre-recorded timings or settings for this exercise, and "PR01" may well be Program 1 set up in error by me. I just want to switch it off, but re-booting doesn't achieve this.

When I switch on my DVD Combo recorder, it runs through its start up cycle and "PR01" is shown on the LED panel. I'm not sure if it's simply a question of changing this setting on the remote or whether it is in fact a genuine error message.

I would have said that this was just an informational message telling you that the recorder is set to the first program channel. Does it change when your press the channel up/down buttons? Are you sure that you have selected the external connection before recording? Also note that there may be copy-protection on the programs on your TIVO which would prevent you from transferring them.

Have you checked some guides from TIVO about transferring to other medium or PC??

The Model Number on the back of the combo box is SANYO DVD Recorder - Model No: DVR-100E.
By using the channel up and down buttons on the remote or on the front of the combo box, the message displayed can be changed from PR01 through to PR05, plus an additional 3 messages of AI1, AI2 and AIF. I cannot get rid of these messages and it simply will not record. I have tried two types of DVR media, DV-R and DV-RW and neither of these work. Suspecting h/w failure now.
The message appears on the display regardless of whether I select VCR or DVR, which concerns me.
I can play pre-recorded discs ok.
