What is an OEM CD/DVD Burner?

Specs: Windows XP Home Edition, Pentium 4 1.80 GHz / 1.250 GB
Does that mean that it just doesn't come with a program? I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and I want to buy a IDE CD/DVD burner, will it work for my computer and install the drivers on it's own?

OEM can mean different things. Generally it means that the product doesn't come with any instructions or extras. May or may not come with necessary mounting screws or cables. Sometimes the warranty is different. In your case none of that should matter.

The only issue is if you don't currently have a burner installed then you may need to get an IDE cable and 4 mounting screws. Below is a link for CD/DVD burners. I filtered the list to only include black because that is the color of your case.

Burners don't need special drivers. Usually an OEM burner means you'll get the burner only - no screws, no cables, no manual, no software.
