Solved What HP laptop do I have ?

Specs: windows 7, 2.401 GHz / 2047 MB
I've bought a laptop, an HP one, which states the model is : Pavilion

Now, this is a very general name. Downloading software based on that, is not possible. So, when looking up the name (used on the invoice) this laptop is called 15-P032ND

Fine, a more easy name would be clearer, but OK.
Then comes the trick; if you go on the HP support website ... well, the name of "15-P032ND" suddenly is unknown.

All Pavilion laptops are entitled DV-6.., DV-7 ..., and similar.
You can see the question; I don't know what exact model my laptop is. (No, I didn't steal it, I bought it), but HP documentation is not very, large.

On the laptop itself it doesn't state, and on the sticker with serial number and other components, it doesn't either !

Is this typical HP, or am I missing something. I had a DELL laptop, where the model name (including number) is noted on the machine. Never had a problem.

My HP laptop does have a sticker with AMD A8.

It seems like these days, you have to be a specialist on everything, since there's very few support from vendors itself.

Can anybody help ? I just need to be able to download the CORRECT drivers.

"Yes, even more odd is that 15-P032ND turns up all over Google yet is not recognised by HP."

It looks to be a model specific to The Netherlands, which may explain why it can't be found on the English websites. There do appear to be details of it on the HP .nl website, but I'm no linguist.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Any of the 3 searches on the screen, says it doesn't know 15-P032ND.
3 times FAIL

I'll try that URL
It's funny there's more support in Google about HP, than on HP website itself.

I'm in West-Europe btw

To be fair to HP, the document that I linked to (which seems to show you how to find the model from the Serial No.) is from the HP website.

Usually HP puts a label under the battery that can be only read when the battery is removed and that usually has the full model number on it (at least on models sold i the USA).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If by means of "English" you mean "North-American", I'm following what you are saying. Problem here in Europe is that we don't have a replacement for ".com", we have country specific ones. I'm not in the Netherlands itself, but that country is very close.

So, I gotta stay clear of American HP sites ... who knows what else is different, if the name already is. It's a regular QWERTY laptop all right.

I know, and the name similar to "DV-" is not noted there, which was the reason why I have this thread here.

Notebook is detailed indeed on : www.hp.nl (which redirects to a hpxxx.com page, but in fact it appears to be divided in some way from the North American pages (?) )
