Sounds funny, except my CD drive is jammed; obviously you have a cracked sense of humour

no flames and smoke, just snapped into several pieces like if you like drop a plate on a floor...off course if you use plastic there wouldn't break

Now that's what I call copyright protection. I never heard of anything like that before. Can you get the disk out? If not, how do you know it's in pieces?

Grass. sorry for attitude on last one, Forgot you were addressing me as Funnyman, rather than just saying that is funny.
Yes thanks, I just opened for third time,,,it opened, I got the major pieces out, then it wouldn't open again, turn the system off and on and now open, got another little piece out, put in a cheap CD i have here to see if works...nothing yet

You don't have to apologize, I am warped. Anyhow, if the cheap one blows up too, you should sell it to someone you don't like. Good luck.

Hey Grass: it goes in and out okay, but won't play another one, so pulled it out for my son to check it. Tried vaccuuming at the spot when the cd drive tray is extended, but didn't pick up anything else. You can hear it when inserting a disk, closing the tray, it sounds like it drops a few inches and then SILENCE. But up to that point it is very noisy

Thank you for your interest

It's obviously trash, You can get a new one for a few bucks. If it's just a cd player, upgrade it with a combo drive.
