Solved What ever happened to printer dust covers?

January 15, 2016 at 05:42:47
Specs: Windows 7, Intel core i5-4690 Haswell refresh / DDR3 Ram 8gb Hyperx beast 2400mhz
Back when I had a Windows 95 computer we had a monitor and printer dust covers. I've got a bit laser printer in my house now and it just gets covered in clouds of dust.

So I thought I'd go on Amazon and buy a dust cover as I only use the printer several times a week. But they don't exist anymore. Any that do exist look a bit 80s.

Good link. It's in the US so I would have to import it but it has exact dust covers for individual models which is great. Mine works out at £30 including delivery to the UK.

Also a good link! (I searched for ages but found nothing.) Seems they are out of stock at the moment but will contact them, cheers.

Got a reply:
Thank you for your order/enquiry. Unfortunately, we are not trading at the present time due to some company restructuring.

I would have thought it would be possible to make one out of curtain material.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I agree with Derek. Otherwise I will be out of $38 USD plus S&H just for a cover for my Brother MFC-7840W printer.

Why bother unless you live in a very dusty region. Has dust ever ruin your printer?

Is that a big deal? Just about everything in life has to be cleaned.

Out of curiosity. If my question bothers you, you are free to ignore it.

You could just put a towel or decent piece of cloth over it - will do much the same as a designer cover?

It's ok it doesn't matter. I just thought it was weird you couldn't buy them anymore.

I agree the apparent disappearance of them is bit of PIA. They did do the job... But I guess too many pholks didn't bother with them.

One could of course hire a maid to dust the place out - weekly or even daily...?

I could easily add comments to #16, but I won't.

It did cross my mind (I still have one - somewhere if only I could remember where) that my #16 could lead into "interesting" subsequents...

I might suggest the idea to my wife, who is usually quite a tolerant person. Somehow I think she might feel it is taking things too far.

I'm off to pour dust on my printer....

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
