what does it mean when a disc won't stay in your disc drive?

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a Dell XP1 and the hard drive is internal, as in, it's built into the monitor. Everytime I insert a disc it pops back out? I have cleaned it thoroughly multiple times and it just won't stay in and read the disc? I don't get any kind of error message? The disc just keeps popping back out? Please help! I have a new printer on the way and I know I will have to download the drivers and such for it, but I won't be able to if the disc doesn't stay in? I am running Windows Vista.

A couple of clarifications. That drive is not a hard drive, it is a CD or CD/DVD disc drive. And you don't download drivers from a CD, you install them from the CD.

It's possible your disc drive has gone bad, how did you clean it?
You could always download the drivers from the printer manufactures website and install them that way until you figure out the CD drive's problem.

Does it happen on many disks or just one? If it is just one disk then it might be a bad disk. Otherwise you could try using a lens cleaner on the disk drive. The disk drive might have worn out.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
