What did I ruin?

Specs: Win 10, i5
How do I...My wife was complaining that her Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga screen was flickering. As I had recently replaced it's cooling fan due to noise, I suspected that I may have compromised a connection. Unfortunately, the computer was on and as I checked the connection from the board to the monitor I cause the screen to go black. All connections are good but even after a restart the screen is blank. Any ideas on what I screwed up? I can use the laptop with a remote monitor. Please help!

Perhaps the backlight maybe dead.
If you shine a light in the screen any visible text or graphics?

Nothing appears to be visible, even with a flashlight.

It could be the monitor to screen cable (or its connections at either end). They often fail at the hinge due to movement wear. With the laptop "on" move the screen slowly down to nearly closed and open again. If you get any flicker of light on the screen then the cable is the culprit. Even if nothing changes it could still be the cable.

See if a monitor works on the laptop.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

No light while moving the screen. External monitor works fine. I did disconnect the cable with the unit on, so I may have blown something up.
