Solved What causes laptop to continuously drop from Internet, then

May 14, 2018 at 16:31:37
Specs: Windows 10, 8 GB
The following problem (annoyance) developed just recently. It seems that whenever I play a Youtube video my connection to the Internet becomes intermittent. That is to say, my connection drops out, then returns a few seconds later. This phenomenon will repeat many times, depending upon the length of the video.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? If yes, what is the procedure to return the laptop to sanity?
Thanks

✔ Best Answer
Just to be sure run this small freebie which is particularly good at unearthing browser malware (a possible cause):

AdwCleaner:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcle...
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Run the "Scan", followed by the "Clean & Repair".

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Also it would be good to know if Wifi or wired network. If Wifi, does any other device have similar problems? Have you tried rebooting Wifi Router? While router is rebooting, restart your laptop as well. Combined, this usually fixes many intermittent Wifi issues, even ones where the issue is on one device only.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Your connection is dropped? Do you get an indication the connection to internet is lost?
Or is the youtube-video "buffering", meaning the video pauses until enough data is loaded to continue playing?

Derek,
I followed your advice and downloaded and ran AdwCleaner. Unlike Malwarebytes Free and AVG Antivirus Free, AdwCleaner caught 5 or 6 PUP-type malware programs and allowed me to quarantine/delete them. Things are running more smoothly, but I'll give another week just to be sure. Many thanks.
