Specs: Windows 10
I called the support number and was told the 1403 error was due to a computer virus, Of course he vehemently tried to sell me a virus protection plan. Anyone heard of this as a cause of the error

I would suspect that whatever number you contacted it was not the correct support number for Canon. A quick Google says that the error 1403 is a print head problem and so is a hardware issue. The fix will depend on the model.

Sadly when one searches (usually via google) for Canon support there are more than a few fakes out there; types who use such fake support links as a means to push their wares, or worse... drop malware into the system.

What is the model of your printer & what have you done to try to fix it? A quick google search says that code is due to a problem with the print head. There's plenty of suggestions in the Canon forum.

Pixma mx922. I tried wiping the print head with a q-tip and alcohol. I tried reloading the drivers but the download program cant find the printer, hooked up wireless. With the error code all the buttons are basically frozen. I'm thinking about USBing it.

Have you tried using the ethernet port/connection - rather than relying on wifi...?

Power down the printer fully and leave a while (I've seen suggestions to leave as long as 24hrs...). Power up again... Then following instruction as in the user manual - install as usb first. After-which follow the network installation sequences.

The manual (User manual - for windows) and other items can be found here...

and this is a direct link to the manual at another safe/reliable source:

First though delete the printer entirely from windows printers list and then proceed to re-install the printer from scratch...

If there is a problem with the printer head... that will likely persist even after you have re-installed the printer. The re-installation is merely a possible solution to actually being able to find/detect the printer - which apparently you can't at present (at least via wifi)? Can you access/find the printer via ethernet?

This is link to a Canon USA discussion referring specifically to the Canon pixma mx922 freezing...
