If yu are only using HD (1920 x 1080) there is no difference, so no point in buying a new cable. But if you want higher resolutions then you need DP. And don't be fooled by talk of "super" cables - all digital cables are equal.

all digital cables are equal.

- but some are more equal than others... (according to George Orwell)

'Twas too good to resist...

Personally I don't buy cheapest cables; and usually check review of any I consider, especially on the big forest/river company.

A few years ago I had a very nice Dell Ultrasharp monitor, with
lots of different connectors. It came with several cables, including,
if I recall correctly, HDMI, DVI (of some flavor), and DP. I never
tried them all out.

The monitor was 1920 x 1200 pixels. Given a choice of outputs
from the graphics card, too, would some cables have been better
than others?
