Solved WD My Passport Ultra, use on another computer, as per Google

May 16, 2017 at 09:17:19
Specs: Windows 7 home, Intel Pent., cpu g630, 4.00 GB, 64 bit
I have been using this for a while now and moved it over to my other computer. It acts as if it is ok, light is on, but can't find it on the monitor. It shows up in device manager, and computer management on disk 2, F, healthy, primary partition. Does not show up Programs, etc. But nothing to click on to use it. Also says drive is updated. thanks

If you go into Windows Explorer, do you see it there?

No Beachyhbt I don't.

But when I plugged it in just now, AutoPlay box comes up on screen, My Passport Ultra (F:) comes on screen, showing options, including Open folder to view files.

Haven't seen this on prior uses on the other computer.

Properties Box shows the following choices: general, tools, hardware, sharing, security, readyboost, previous versions, quota and customize.

When I click on Hardware, many choices come up, clicking on WD My Passport 259F USB Device, disk drives comes up.

Then on Volumes tab, shows volumes contained on this disk, but no entries entered. Clicking on Populate shows My Passport Ultra (F:) 953836 MB, reserved space says 0 MB so I guess it is full up?

Capacity shows 953837 MB

If you click "Open folder to view files" can you see the content?

So does the drive not show in "My Computer" along with the rest? If so you should see the contents if you open it.

yes, shows in My Computer, under My Passport Ultra (F) as 903 GB free of 931GB.

When I open that it shows WD Backup.swstor but doesn't show a size. When open this one it shows User, file folder, no size. When I open this one, it shows a name,
MJG0NGU4MzdiNjY1NGI0MD, no size shown, and when I open it, it shows these files:

History, Volume(40b08cd4-9b90-41b7-98f9-7ec2e...
.dir .metadata and .snp the last 3 files have sizes in KB, largest one is .dir 117,976KB

Now, when I open the Volume file, Users shows up; and I open that and 3 files show up: Public, user and Warren.000, and no sizes. When I open User I get a list of files I see that are files that it saved on first computer, music, pictures etc.

So it seems to me that it works and has lots of space left on it but I can't get any way to have it show up on the screen so that I can set it to work on the other computer like it does on the first computer. I did not get any instructions with it but a sheet showing Tech Support in 15 different languages.
