want to erase HDD on a win98 PC for donation

Specs: Windows 98
I want all files erased and disk blank so that i can donate my old computer. How is this done when windows mounts on the boot?

D/L Darik's Boot & NUKE DBAN, make bootable floppy or CD to run the DBAN program

Windows 98? Just whack it w/ DBAN. Ppl shouldn't be using those old 9x/2K OSes anyway.

True, but those PCs should only be used in standalone Mode I'd say. If they put those old 9x/2K PCs on the Internet (and 'ya know they will), the chances of the older, unsecure, unsupported OSes getting loused up with malware is pretty high.

Hmmm.....would they be ignorant enough to use their credit card number online via those systems too ;-) ?

Why bother donating it.

After you delete the os the machine is nothing more that a paper weight.........or do you plan to reinstall 98.

How bout this worldl, put one end of chain into the PC case, fill it with cement, cut other end of chain to length for a boat anchor?
