Specs: Windows Vista, AMD Athlon 64 X 2
My desktop computer at home was working fine, was keeping Vista up to date with all the new updates and such. Had Windows Live care installed for antivirus protection. One day came home from work and it had shut itself off. Tried to boot it up and quit halfway through the start up. After that, it told me I need to run the repair for windows, I did and as soon as it was done repairing, it shut off again. From then on, it will go through system check and then start Windows, then it quits, not at the same point every time. Sometimes it get to the profile page and quits, sometimes it lets you sign into a profile then quit, sometime it quits before the profile page comes up. Any solutions?

I'm having the same problem and though I'm not 100% sure, I think I'm onto something. I Booted with a CD and all seem to go well, So "bad HD", right? Maybe a terrible virus or something. I left it running with a bootable CD and after HOURS, it shut down for some reason. Then I booted to the HD and everything was fine...for awhile. It may run for hours, maybe minutes, maybe not at all. That settled it. I ordered a new PSU. Just put it in and it's still the same. BUMMER. BUT, while looking at the MOBO, I noticed 10 bulging capacitors. All of them are 1800uf 6.3v and appear to be a different brand than the other caps on the board. I'm POSITIVE this is the problem. Bad caps. Just like I was positive on the HD and PSU!
