Video cards and power supply wattage

September 14, 2010 at 11:18:27
Specs: Windows XP Pro, 504
I have a DEll Optiplex GX-280 Desktop with a 250 watt power supply and want to upgrade the video card. Is this something that can even be done? This machine was built in: June 2005. Kindly let me know more.

Thanks, Louis,

I'm not gonna bother to look up the specs...you should have supplied them. Does your board have AGP, PCI-express or only standard PCI slots for the video card upgrade? What is the amperage rating for the +12v rail on the power supply? Why do you want to upgrade the card...gaming? How much are you willing to spend? You also need more RAM.
