I have an old hp pavilion zv5000. I want to show photos from my laptop to the tv. The tv has S video and the laptop has vga. Does my video card have "TV-Out" function??
hello, I would recommend a VGA to S-Video Adaptor. That would be the easiest.
ddennis002 Did you read the reviews further down the page at that link your supplied ? They're all negative !
.........You don't have a video CARD - you have onboard video - video built into the mboard. A video CARD is removable - your video is NOT.
All you need is an SVideo cable - a standard one with 4 pins on each end is compatible with both the laptop jack and the TV jack.
See page 14 and 15 in this - your model has an SVideo jack = TV Out output.
http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00212...Legacy TV Out video is never as good looking as the display on your computer monitor - it has been processed so it will display on a TV using much older and more primitive standard TV video display specs.
If you have a newer TV that has a VGA input (15 pinhole Dsub, the same as for your external VGA port) , if you use a VGA cable between your computer VGA port and the VGA port on the TV, the display on that TV will be just as good as on your computer monitor.
