Specs: XP Home, ????
Hi Everyone. My son has a Dell Dimension 4500 stock from the factory. He wants to get a new vid card for the computer. He need a dual output. One for the monitor and one feed to an lcd tv with a vga input. The monitor had a dvi input along with a vga. The machine uses agp 4x bus. He isn't going to play any games at all. He has a dvr hooked into the system so he can record vids from Myspace etc. He would like to be able to record and burn dvd's using video capture on the dvr. He doesn't want to spend a lot on a card i.e. the radeon 3850 etc. Can anyone suggest a decent budget card for him. TIA.

It really depends on how much you're willing to spend. I don't usually suggest TigerDirect, but here's a couple of possibilities:

The X800GTO is a better performing card but it doesn't support pixel shader 3.0 so it *may* be an issue if he decided to try gaming. It would depend on the game.

Hi Jam,
Thanx for the quick reply. I'll check those out. I don't think he will ever game, he has a hard enough time just turning it on:))

Just so you know, ATI changed the model number of the X1300 to X1550. The card I recommended above is the X1300Pro..."Pro" mean it's a better card.
