video card not working

Specs: Windows Vista
when i switch on my laptop the screen does not work and it gives bois beeps...and the beep means my video card is not responding. But i leave it on till my laptop gets hot enough and i hold on the laptop power button to shut it down and when i switch it on immediatetly it works perfectly...will this harm my laptop in any way ???

a permanent solution for this would be to reseat the graphics card...try it

Laptops don't have graphics cards. When you get it to boot normally, right click My Computer and select Properties. Then click the Hardware tab and select Device Manager. Look at your video device and see if there is any yellow exclamation marks on it. You may have a corrupt driver and it needs to be reinstalled or updated.

something about leaving the malfunctioning laptop on until it gets hot enough?

yeah, that could wear down the life of your hardware faster than finding the actual solution.

heat is bad for electronics. if you were using the laptop while it was getting hot, i'd call it normal wear and tear. but since you can't even use it during that initial period, i would urge you to find the real problem and institute a real solution.
