V7 LCD monitor suddenly black

March 12, 2011 at 16:26:01
Specs: Windows Vista
My V7 R19WPS LCD monitor suddenly went black. If I turn it off ,wait a while, and turn it on, It will work for a few seconds before going black again. I also noticed before this happened I saw a yellowish tint which went away after about half a minute whenever I woke up the computer after screensaver mode. I also noticed a very slight difference in the shade of black when I had a window open on the darker desktop picture. Is this the capacitors in the power supply or the backlight or something else? None of the capacitors show any sign of bulging or leaking. I am presently using my CRT monitor with no problems

Apparently V7 R19WPS LCD monitor "Date first available at Amazon.com: December 27, 2005"

If you've had it that nearly long, it's not surprising you're having problems . LCD displays do not last as long as CRT displays on average.

The most likely thing is the backlight is failing.

The following is about laptop displays but the same thing applies to any LCD display that uses one or more backlights.

Laptop no video (or video problems), and battery, AC adapter, power jack T shooting.

It seems that I bought it from Staples probably in February 2006. While waiting for a reply I found some of your other Posts for similar problems and after comparing notes, it sounds like I need to replace the backlight. Since I have never even heard of a backlight before today, I'm sure it will be a learning experience. Thank you for your reply
