Solved Used Xbox power supply cord for my CPU power supply

October 1, 2017 at 14:10:00
Specs: Windows 10
Plugged my Xbox power supply cord into my computer, worked normally for 3 days, this morning i went on my computer and the camera wasn't registering through the USB port, my keyboard turned off, & my headset was cutting in and out. I then got an alert on my computer saying, power surge usb ports cannot supply enough power to hardware, I shut my computer down, and it wouldn't start, I tried putting the correct power supply cord in, still no luck. Did I fry my motherboard? power supply? or both? I have an I7

Is this a laptop, or desktop?

✔ Best Answer
This is what a PC power supply cord looks like: https://www.ascendtech.us/mmASC/Ima... If that's what you plugged in, I don't see how it could have any negative effect on your system.

If you're asking about a different type of cord, please explain more clearly.

BTW, THIS is a CPU.

I assume it is a Desktop.
Is anything lighting up when you turn on the power?
There is a green LED on the motherboard indicating standby-power present. Is that LED on?

Hi Train,

please check and advise the output voltages and watts on both the correct and x-box power supplies that you used.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
