Specs: Windows 7 x64 pro, 32GB DDR4
Strange problem here, occasional problem, does not happen all the time.

I can wake the pc by pressing any key on the keyboard or by moving the mouse.
You can here the pc wake up,fan speed increases etc but for all intents and purposes it's dead.
Nothing on the screen, all usb devices are dead, not lit up not working.
I have to reset the pc to be able to use it.

All power management options for hubs are unticked and suspend is disabled.
I'm baffled as to how the pc can semi wake up?
Been through the bios but nothing stands out..........

I personally set the BIOS to NOT wake on keyboard and mouse (accidental wake on bumping table) but it still wakes on mouse click (not move).
The answer though to your question is probably in the power settings. Set the hard drive to NEVER power down. When in sleep it is powered down anyway so it is not needed. Sleep on a desktop computer is actually Hybrid Sleep and when the system goes into sleep by itself it is trying to save its state to both the RAM and the Hard Drive but if the hard drive is in its power down state at that time then it cannot complete this step and sets up the hang you are getting. I solved this many years ago (Windows 95 era) when I had this recurring issue and have always set this on all of my set ups since. The exact process is still a theory of mine but it has been proven over time because it works this way always. The hard drive power down is/was to save hard drive wear and energy usage and if you are still using conventional hard drives and NOT using sleep on your desktop systems then you have no issue and may benefit from it. If however you are like me and use the Hybrid Sleep on your desktop you should disable the hard drive power down in power settings to prevent this issue. Microsoft should have (a long time ago) make auto sleep and hard drive power down work only in an either/or condition to prevent it but I guess it is not common enough for them to bother. I have been explaining this here occasionally for years now.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I too have always set that to NEVER.

Nothing is set to 'sleep',it's all full power.
I go start button and sleep only

google says something about c states in bios so will have a look around

So, reading your first post I assume you are using the PS/2 for mouse or KB? I assume that because you indicate the USB posts are not functional when this issue happens.

Hey OtH
usb mouse and kb

These are plugged into the mobo ports.
Have a dongle for headset plugged into front ports, usually has a blinky led.

When I usually wake pc up,hit spacebar,pc starts,kb lights come on and pc starts up.
But occasionally after hit spacebar,pc starts but thats it.
No lights on kb or dongle, monitor shows no life also but pc fans are running.

So then, some USB ports must be operational.
The USB ports for front and bracketed rear ports are connected to headers on the motherboard. That MAY explain why some work and some don't. Go to the link below for help with Advanced USB settings. An update MAY have caused this issue to start.
