Solved USB Y cable Splitter to power external HDD

If you have a external HDD (like the one listed below), that requires an additional DC wall power adapter.....Could that be

replaced with a usb y splitter similar to the one below...provided the connections were the same?

5 Watts isn't enough to spin 3.5 inch platter(s).
Use Y shape cable only for small 2.5 inch external drives.

Nope. The voltage and current is too far off. You can only power laptop type hard drives with usb.A desktop hard drive is in that enclosure and requires different power.
