usb ports not working on Toshiba Satallite

June 12, 2009 at 08:28:37
Specs: Windows Vista Basic
My toshiba labtop, satallite a135 s2246, was working fine and then suddenly i can't use a flash drive or mouse in any usb port(4 total). it says device not recognized. I plugged in a lazer mouse, it said unknown device, as if the device was noticed, but no light was coming from the optical lens. I've tried fixing the problem through windows(device manager) and with the bios(reseting defaults)and no luck. I have windows vista basic, please help.

See event log files and be sure to see system properties page.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Check in Device manager to see if the USB controllers are working properly.
