Specs: Windows XP
Well I was transferring videos onto my 8gb Lexar usb and the computer was taking ages and was practically frozen and I just wanted to get off, so files were being transferred and I turned the computer off through holding the power button for numerous seconds. Now I've corrupted it and I think it has errors or something, so what it does is now is i'll plug it in and it will work for maybe 5 minutes and ill transfer something it may or may not disconnect halfway through and I can use it for maybe at most 10 minutes before it disconnects and reconnects itself.

It also comes up with messages like, USB not recognized, One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem click the message and basically message takes you to windows help which ends up telling me to talk to Lexar about it.

Just wondering if there is any fixes so far have tried, uninstalling and reinstalling, turning off the computer, restarting, rebooting also turned off and disconnected the plug at the back that hasn't worked, tried just taking the usb out and putting it back in. I think i might have to get a new one but any help is appreciated thanks.

I have this same exact problem, on 3 different computers (4 diff. OS's). I think it is a problem with the USB being handled less than gently, like the part that plugs into the computer has become loose or something. Lexar has warranties, I think, but I don't feel like sending a drive that has had private information to random people and companies and such, even if it has been securely deleted. I have not tried formatting my Lexar drive, because I do not have another USB large enough to hold the data on it while I do it, but I have a feeling formatting won't help.

I guess this is what we get for trying to save some money and buying our flash drives from Target, huh?

i have the same problem with my lexar 8gb twist & turn, tried downloading the driver from their web but still having the problem - the sheer number of google hits related to this drive disconnecting is an indication (imo) that it's a glitch in the drive itself - I have 5 other drives of different makes and those work just fine on OSX 10.5 and Windows XP

I have the exact same problem with my 16gb Lexar twist and turn.
I sent it into Lexar (had to pay like $5 for postage) and was told they would fix the errors.
About 3 months later I got a message from UPS saying I had to come sign for and pick up a package. It took me 3 hours on transit (plus transit fare each way) to get to the UPS distribution center just to get my flash drive back.
They said they fixed it, but low and behold the second I plugged it in: it was disconnecting and reconnecting itself.
Not only did I pay almost $30 for the flash drive, but incurred further costs trying to get Lexar to fix their screw up.
I am going to contact the company again and see if they are willing to fix their mistake. I am hoping to get either a refund, or a replacement of a different model.
