USB drive lost all its files

Specs: Windows XP
My USB drive lost all its files, I plugged it in to my computer and there were only a few files on there. I check the properties of my thumb drive, and it said that my memory is almost filled up-because there were alot of files and such. Is there a way to retrieve the "missing" files back?

Possibly. Try to avoid using your Flash Drive, then try downloading and running Recuva on your Flash Drive:

Another note for the future: Don't keep important files on Flash Drives!

That note is extremely important. Flash drives are NOT reliable for long term storage. They should be used as transfer devices only.

Either due to a problem with a virus or some OS bug, files and folders on USB drives sometimes get hidden. If your drive looks full but only a few things are showing maybe that's what happened. Check my # 3 here as well as Derek's link:
