USB device cannot be started

Specs: Windows 7, 8gb
hi all, here's what happened, I updated my nvdia driver through drivermax and I am not sure if this caused the problem but ever since then my mouse had stop working sometimes. It was fixed by a restart but yesterday, my mouse was completely down. So I changed a new mouse but it was the same. The usb just couldn't detect the device with error message device driver and software was not successfully installed.
I have tried everything, manually update the driver, system restore, system repair and lastly I reinstalled my win7(without reformat the hd). So apparently it is the problem of the usb ports, now it's the keyboard's turn to stop working. All other devices like bluetooth and usb wireless adapter have no problem. It turns out in between mouse and keyboard, only one of them will work.
What should I do?

"I updated my nvdia driver through drivermax"

Why would you install a "driver finder" program when all you needed to do was go to the nvidia site? I suggest you uninstall that crapware & run a full scan for viruses & malware.

It might not be - go to the link provided in #1 and never use magic driver programs you find on the net.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"I already reinstalled win7. is that not enough?"

But you did it "without reformat the hd" so no, it was not enough.
