the mobo had 2 MEM DDR 256MB PC333 32MX8 R0 in it I took 512 pc2100 stick out of an old pc added it and got 1 gig. then while moving I found 2 sticks still in the box that are 1GB DDR 266 cl2 ECC. so I took out the three sticks and put in the 2 1 gb sticks and get three long beeps the red light on the motherboard comes on and nothing on the monitor.
Either more ram than the MB can handle or incompatible ram I believe. Likely
I want to go like my grandfather did. Peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming at the top of my lungs like the passengers in his car.(\__/)

I have been doing some checking and intel says it will not work it has to be non ecc. I got this memory from an upgrade that never happened when I was a contractor. I wonder if the PC shop down the street would trade me for some non-ecc memory. I wish I could trick the motherboard?
ECC RAM is generally used in servers, not desktop systems. It is slower & more expensive than standard RAM because of the added error correction circuitry. You can't "trick" the board into using it...it either supports ECC or it doesn't.
