Upgrade Tiny HDD in older model of Acer/XP Media

March 28, 2013 at 09:52:50
Specs: Windows 64
I recently started using old Acer with XP Media which is very slow to load any of programs, particularly I.E. 8/SP3.

I looked at Local Disk/C and found only 34 GB total size with 512 Ram. I plan to upgrade 1 GB Ram/memory. However, I have no idea of upgrade HD to at least, 75 GB.

Should I use 'External HD' to compensate it? If possible, what sort of External HD would be recommendable?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Post the model of the computer. There is a good chance the computer may not be able to accept a hard drive larger than 127/137GB. Drives of that size are hard to find new.

Is this a laptop?

You can use an external hard drive to store all your personal files. Even if it is possible to install programs on an external hard drive the performance might not be acceptable to you.

The computer may or may not be upgradable as far a RAM is concerned.

You can go to crucial.com and use their online advisor to determine if more RAM is possible and if so, what size and type.

Are you running WinXP?
