Specs: Windows XP
I am a real novice at this and I am being told that the reason thet my computer is crashing is that I need to upgrade my display adapter. I haven't a clue what that means or how to do it. I run windows xp

It means you need to upgrade the video card. What are you doing to cause the system to crash?

It would help to:

1. List your computer specs (CPU, RAM, video adapter, other peripherals, etc.)
2. Describe what happens (and what you are doing) when your machine crashes.
3. List the complete version of WindowsXP (SP1, SP2, SP3)

It's less likely that your machine is crashing due to a video-adapter problem than it is for something else to be occurring.

It could be, but not likely. There are many reasons why a computer crashes. Since you have no clue as to what to do, I would suggest you take it to a repair shop. If you think you may be able to fix it, post back with the system specs, make and model, and what the error message says if you get one. Does it start up at all?
