Specs: Windows 7 Home Basic, 2.992 GHz / 1022 MB
I have a Intel Entry Server Board that I required from a local McDonald's before it closed down. (YEEESSSS) Now my problem is trying to add a sound &Video card to this system. I'm good but not that good as of yet. I have been on the Intel website but it's no help being that this board is over 9 years old give or take. I ran a system diagnostics on the site and this is what I got:

McDonald's has servers?

I found docs on Intel's site:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...

The motherboard has an AGP video slot (AGP bus with AGP connector, supporting 1.5 V and 0.8V AGP cards at 4X and 8X) and PCI slots, so I would imagine you could get a PCI sound card and AGP Video card for it...if the mobo is healthy.

MOOOOooove! OH and you're welcome!

@rider nothing major, if I can get a decent Sound & Video card I'm fine. Just happy I can build on something I got for free! LOL Plus after working on other people computers I get a chance to build my own. Do you have any suggestions on making this a SUPER COMPUTER????

It will never be a "SUPER COMPUTER". It's extremely outdated. Technology has long since passed it by. I don't know what parts you already have, but most upgrades will have to come from the "used" market - DDR1 memory, AGP graphics, etc. Invest as little in it as possible in it. No matter what you do, it will remain an old computer.

Super computers are the ones fully loaded (with enough RAM, HDD, Video etc) and running when you get them. A P4 2.8 Ghz will run ok, but like riider said, tis old...don't sink a lot $ into it.

Any PCI soundcard. $5
You can get AGP 8X graphics with 512mb ram for less than $30.
You've run diagnostics on it. It has 1024mb ram ( not sufficient in my opinion to be running Win7). get more ram or downgrade to an older operating system. @ 9 yrs old it was probably built for XP or at best( or worst) Vista.
According to the manual:
The maximum configurable memory size is 4 GB, using four 1 GB stacked
unbuffered DDR266/333/400 ECC DIMMs.
Extra ram will be expensive: http://www.crucial.com/store/listpa...

It is never going to be a worldbeater nor will it run modern games that almost exclusively require multi-core processors.

Thanks guys for the input BUT I'm really not a GAMER more of a go to guy to fix others computers (I'm good so far). I came across this from one of my other mentors who thought this might be something I can further learn from. I mainly DOWNLOAD (wink wink) and surf that would be all on this unit. @Richard59 I'm actually running Windows 7 Home Basic now with no problems at all. My thing is just a touch up on the memory, sound & video card, I have an extra HD that I'm going to put in and another burner that I'm going to install. These parts have just being sitting in my house so why not put them to good use.
