Why do u think u need to update BIOS?
I don't think it can be done remotely.

I'm guessing that Dell probably know better than something you read somewhere. You can't update the BIOS remotely, at least not on a computer that old.

If it's essential to update the BIOS, buy a floppy drive. It'll cost you less than $10.

What do you think a BIOS update is going to accomplish? Is there a specific fix the update contains that you think you need?

Updating the bios will allow the memory I have to be accepted by computer.I basically did the same thing to an older cpq and that woked out great.I burned an iso image of updated bios, then booted using the c.d. I burned.

Dell usually offers a executable program to run a bios update. Their site would tell you what is available.

Otherwise you can make a cd to update or borrow a floppy to do that task.

If the bios update exactly says it fixes your issue then you may try it. Otherwise there is no use to them.
