just recently installed windows XP on a perfectly capable laptop, however the installation freezes when removing temporary files " at the end of installation". when pc re-booted it went through instillation again but still froze when it attempted to remove temporary files. now any attempt to install alternative OS has failed due to what I understand to be lack of files needed which should be included in the full windows installation. have not tried Linux yet since the laptop is meant for an ict-reject. so I am asking if anybody knows of any way of completely reformatting the hard drive without relying on any of the above methods? any help would be greatly appreciated.
