Ultra dma mode 5,smart capable but disable...

Specs: Windows xp, 1 GB RAM
Suddenly, my system stopped booting.In trying to restore the system it was displaying the above msg:ULTR DMA MODE 5,S.M.A.R.T CAPABLE BUT DISABLE...This was the first time seeing such message and i am confused.So, what can i do to restore my computer back..is it HDD issue, motherboard or cpu? OS Version:windows xp, service pack 2.

Enter the BIOS & make sure your HDD is being properly identified, then enable SMART. Save your settings & reboot. SMART will then test the HDD for errors.

I suggest you download a fitness test from the manufacturer of your hard drive and run it from a boot disk.

current the hdd is using PIO mode. I think there's a option to enable DMA in bios (ide config)
