I do have a router, and a laptop, I am wanting to hook up another desktop, How do I do this, to receive internet, do I have to have a second modem? I am on broadband cable, and really don't want to ask for another piece of equipment.

You just plug the computer into the router. You might need a $2 ethernet cord.

Thank you. If I am putting my second computer in another room, do I just get a really long ethernet cord then?

Yes. Or if your router is a wireless router, you could get a wireless adpater for the desktop and conenct it wirelessly.
